Beth-San (Beit she'an) is an historical city in the north of Israel. It's location has often been strategically significant, as it sits at the junction of the Jordan River Valley and the Jezreel Valley, essentially controlling access from the inland to the coast, as well as from Jerusalem to the Galilee. The city functioned as a cross-section for both trade and rest. In the design for the health care centre we took this idea. An atrium worked out to be a living street surrounded by columns and galleries, surrounded by private residential and office spaces.
